With this in mind, use the following mods to get the most out of these two abilities:īranded will make enemies affected by Thermal Bomb suffer an additional 40% damage from all sources, while Double Fun and Fire Frenzy will allow players to apply Thermal Bomb to up to four enemies at once. The goal of this build is to prime enemies with Thermal Bomb before detonating them with a burst from Feed The Flames. Since this is a Reforged set build, “Outriders” players will need three pieces of the armor set as well as both Feed The Flames and Thermal Bomb. Here’s an updated “Outriders” Reforged set build for the Pyromancer that makes heavy use of both abilities. It now grants 75% bonus damage to Thermal Bomb and Feed The Flames, opening it up for some explosive combos along with mods and weapons. The armor set received a 25% bump to its set passive. One of the biggest buffs that the Pyromancer received from the “New Horizon” update of “Outriders” is a slight rework to the Reforged set, which now heavily leans toward Anomaly Power builds with both Thermal Bomb and Feed The Flames. The Acari set still overshadows every other Pyromancer armor set. This build is great for applying debuffs, sustaining HP and dealing area-of-effect damage. The Reforged set gained an additional 25% damage bonus to its set passive.

The newfound maturity and serenity permeating throughout Good Nature makes it easy to forget that the unvarnished, raw, and sometimes ugly feelings Getz sang about on Peripheral Vision were from such a short time ago. "It's hard to be poetic sometimes when you're trying to get a point across like that," offers Getz. what you think is backwards could be inside out." Figuring out how to live and discovering truth drives the heart of Good Nature. it gets hard to look at things from different perspectives. Over a buoyant rhythm, Getz's delicate tenor sings, "we all have a little curiosity. The album's most propulsive track "Curiosity," practically serves as a mission statement. "Where Peripheral Vision is when the adolescent part of my experience was ending and about the questions I had about life during that time, Good Nature attempts to answer them," says Getz. This search guided Good Nature into becoming Turnover's most optimistic offering yet. My friends back home would talk things going on with them and I'd realize that my life was radically different." Though he was rarely home, Getz decided he needed to take stock of the things that mattered in his life and in his words, find "deeper context in his relationships." He says, "I started feeling a bit more alienated from like people closest to me. Following Peripheral Vision, the band's relentless tour schedule began to take a toll on Getz. In your early 20s, your brain does go through like the most reformatting that it does at any time in your life," explains Getz. "The period between these two records was the part of my life that was full of the most change. That growth in the studio is not just a product of Getz having a larger record collection. Says Getz, "One of the big things that people like about Turnover, especially with Peripheral Vision and Good Nature, is the intricacies of the guitar parts." Each riff was meticulously tinkered with while in the studio, a result of Getz' not having a set deadline and being able to write while recording. Anchored by chiming guitars, the immaculately-produced track finds the band settling into their most soulful groove yet. r/poppunkjerk is my favorite subreddit, by far.The bubbly single "Sunshine Type" shows how much Turnover's songs have opened up. ie ( Be an active member before you post your OC) No direct image links, these should be put in a self/text post.ĭo not share/request illegal download links or streams.įollow the self promotion guidelines. Only their deaths can sever the connections that are vastly increasing Hakkar's might while draining the other gods of power. Unable to oppose his will, the priests are channeling the power of their gods into Hakkar. According to several reports, Hakkar has enthralled five high priests of the trolls' primal gods. Numerous spies have confirmed the presence of the dreaded Soulflayer in the heart of the ruins. The Atal'ai and Hakkari lost no time in dispatching a number of their most skilled priests to Zul'Gurub, where their efforts met with success at last. Jammal'an the Prophet, leader of the Atal'ai, told his people that if they succeeded in bringing Hakkar physically into Azeroth, then Hakkar would grant the Atal'ai immortality. In recent years the exiled Atal'ai have discovered that Hakkar's physical form can only be summoned within the ancient capital of the Gurubashi Empire, Zul'Gurub. ![]() What much of Azeroth does not know, however, is that the dragons are actually guarding the wrong location. To this day, the temple's ruins are guarded by mighty green dragons. The green Dragon Aspect, Ysera the Dreamer, soon learned of the evil priests' plans and smashed the temple beneath the marshes. Both groups bent all their efforts toward bringing about Hakkar's entry into the physical world. Even so, Hakkar had not forgotten that the Hakkari had betrayed him in opposing his first entry into Azeroth, and so the hungry god would always regard the faithful Atal'ai with greater favor. Pleased by the Hakkari's obvious suffering, the Atal'ai welcomed their former brethren into the temple. In great bitterness and despair, the surviving Hakkari tracked the Atal'ai to the Swamp of Sorrows and pledged to help the Atal'ai summon Hakkar into Azeroth. The Hakkari, too, were killed or exiled for the evil deeds they had done in Hakkar's name, despite the fact that they had fought the Atal'ai. Yet a small group of Atal'ai escaped into the Swamp of Sorrows, where they secretly built a great temple to their god: the Temple of Atal'Hakkar. Driven from the jungles, the Atal'ai was hunted nearly to extinction. Even the Zandalari were drawn into the conflict, which finally ended with the destruction of Hakkar's avatar. Most of the Hakkari were horrified at the idea, but the Atal'ai, a small extremist faction of the Hakkari, decided to do as Hakkar wished.īefore the Atal'ai could complete the summoning, the other jungle trolls, including the Hakkari, rose up in open revolt against the cruel god. He told them to find a way to summon him physically into the world, so that he might directly drain the blood of his victims. His demands quickly escalated, and he grew impatient with his loyal priests, the Hakkari. Hakkar brought the trolls great power, but in return the bloodthirsty god required that souls be sacrificed to him. 1,500 years before the opening of the Dark Portal, the jungle trolls, driven to desperate ends, enlisted the aid of the god Hakkar, also known as the Soulflayer. If your guild killed Onyxia Deathbringer would be better, but Frostbite is pretty solid and cool until you are in MC/Onyxia with your guild. The long centuries following the Great Sundering were difficult ones for the troll race. Hunters and Rogues should get prio on this weapon, fury warriors should go for another weapon like (Frostbite) (Horde) Same stats but a mace if you are alliance. And of course if you can get the offhand it's a very big +++. If you are not in MC the Warblade of Hakkari is a very nice main hand. For rogues it's pretty nice but I would prefer Brutality blade in main hand because the stats are a bit better, and so is the DPS. For a fury DW warrior it is a bit slow for a Main hand, if you are a fury warrior you should try to get the off hand from the set, and (Deathbringer) that's a very nice combo imo. Overtly reminiscent of films like Brian de Palma's Blow Out, Antonioni's Blow Up, and especially Paul Schrader's Hardcore and Joel Schumacher's 8MM, Broadcast Signal Intrusion highlights director Gentry's obvious obsession with technology as a corrupting tool. Curiosity quickly turns to mania, which rapidly turns into a full blown obsession, especially when he begins to connect these pirate broadcasts to a series of missing women, laying bare his own open wounds regarding his missing and presumed dead wife.īroadcast Signal Intrusion indulges in a very particular brand of late '90s introvert nostalgia. Coping by burying himself in a job that practically necessitates isolation, James leaves himself largely closed off to the outside world, but open to focus a tremendous amount of time and energy to this mystery that has him rapt. Shum's James is a man mourning the loss of his wife, who'd disappeared a few years before the events of the film unfold. By positing a scenario in which this particular brand of civil disobedience – breaking into TV broadcasts with eerie, cryptic messages – leads to an actual malevolent mastermind, Gentry taps into a rich history of similar conspiratorial cinema, but still seems to fizzle out in the end. Inspired by the pirate broadcast signal intrusions of the '80s and '90s, Gentry's film imagines a deep well of evil and violence behind what was largely a showcase for misanthropic hackers with too much time on their hands. Tumbling down a conspiratorial rabbit hole, James bounces from one clue to the next, all the while bringing this increasingly macabre puzzle closer and closer to a personal tragedy that leaves him unable to walk away. In Jacob Gentry's Broadcast Signal Intrusion, video archivist James (Harry Shum, Jr.) in the late '90s loses himself in a mystery that turns out to be more sinister than he ever could've imagined when he stumbles across an odd snippet of disturbing video while working. There's something about the unexplained and seemingly unexplainable that can turn the most rational person into a conspiracy theorist when they start to look too closely at details that were never meant to be put under a microscope. 8/2/2023 0 Comments Ragtime el doctorow summaryWe see Evelyn Nesbit, a young beauty for the love of whom Harry K. That is the plot and the reviewer has no compunction about recounting it, because, as to both physical and emotional content, it occupies a comparatively small part of "Ragtime." It is a fable that serves as an excuse for a great deal of social observation, and for the introduction of numerous real historical people, each of whom Doctorow (best known previously for "The Book of Daniel") freely and happily gives his own utterly unhistorical twists. Coalhouse, who has been promised safe conduct, walks out into the street and is gunned down by police. Morgan mansion and library in New York City, demanding that Coalhouse's automobile be returned to him in its original condition. Finally the Coalhouse Gang executes its climactic act of defiance against the white world: It invades and takes possession of the J.P. A New York newspaper, unable to find a picture of Walker, prints one of Scott Joplin and labels it Walker. It is full of coincidences and implausibilities that is because, like ragtime, it is not about life but about a dream of life.Īfter first blowing up a couple of New Rochelle firehouses, the Coalhouse Gang becomes notorious. Its narrative style is unorthodox consisting entirely of indirect discourse with no dialogue and a point of view that is neither subjective nor omniscient, merely reportorial but then, ragtime music was so unsettling to orthodox listeners that they had to pigeonhole it as whorehouse music. Its hero, a black musician named Coalhouse Walker Jr., is not introduced until about halfway through - hardly within the rules for the "well-made novel." But the device is perfectly within them for well-made ragtime, which is characterized by the serial introduction of entirely new themes. "Ragtime" is basically the story of an upper middle class white family in New Rochelle, New York, and its black servant and her daughter and lover, in the years 1902-1913. ![]() ![]() Because it is not a novel about ragtime but a novel in ragtime. Why, then, begin a review of it with a paragraph about ragtime music? Because this is a novel clearly inspired by that music and by the queer light it throws on the time in which it flourished and suffused with its mood and almost its rhythms. "Ragtime" isn't a novel about ragtime music indeed, ragtime music is barely mentioned in passing. And while finding evidence of Trout’s improvement over his big-league career requires some squinting, Harper’s is obvious: After walking in 10.4% of plate appearances across his first three seasons, Harper walked 19% of the time he came up in 2015. When he finally enjoyed a fully healthy season in 2015, he took a massive step forward offensively, posting on-base and slugging percentages well higher than anything Trout has done to date. Harper spent significant stretches of 20 on the disabled list, but none of his injuries has been of the nagging, chronic sort. And though he doesn’t steal bases like he did in his first two seasons, he appears to be adding power: He established new career highs in home runs and hard-hit ball percentage in both 20. Only nine players in Major League history - all of them inner-circle Hall of Famers or Barry Bonds - have had four straight seasons better than Trout’s first four seasons. Notice a trend? No one has ever, in all the years that baseball has been played, had a better start to his big-league career than Mike Trout. Last season, he became the top all-time MLB position player in career WAR through his age-23 season. In 2014, he became the top all-time MLB position in career WAR through his age-22 season. The next year, he became the top all-time MLB position player in career WAR through his age-21 season. ![]() ![]() That season, he became the top all-time MLB position player in career WAR through his age-20 season. He has led the American League in WAR every single year since 2012. As a natural center fielder, he plays a more valuable defensive position than Harper does, and he has proved extremely durable during his big-league tenure, playing at least 157 games in each of the past three seasons. Though Harper had a better 2015 season than Trout did, there’s really no arguing that Trout has been a far better player to date. So let’s get into it: The case for Mike Trout Harper is set for free agency after the 2018 season, and any extension the Nats may negotiate before then will almost certainly prove a lot more expensive than Trout’s because of Harper’s relative proximity to the open market.Īlright, that’s a heck of a lot of build-up for a conversation you probably figured out from the headline. If it aimed to figure which player will prove more valuable to his current team, it would swiftly and certainly settle on Trout, who inked an extension that will keep him with the Angels until 2020. This post aims to examine which player is a better bet moving forward, regardless of their respective contract statuses. Plus, Harper and Trout seem forever linked because they both became full-time Major Leaguers in 2012 at extremely young ages and because Harper seemed primed to become the best player in baseball from the time he was 16, and Trout really did become the best player in baseball by the time he was 20. Same for Machado, who is awesome and probably even a bit underrated but nonetheless not quite up to the ridiculous level of the outfielders here. When I reframed the same question to ask which player will have the best career from this day forward, the results proved far closer, with Harper holding a slight edge over Trout - 41% to 36%, as of Friday afternoon:Īs points out, this should make for a more interesting poll: Highest career WAR from this day forward?Īgain, there’s a pretty strong argument for Correa, but because he fell short of Harper and Trout and because he’s harder to compare to his slightly elder colleagues, I’m leaving him aside for the sake of this post. So on the occasion of Harper’s 100th home run on Thursday, I posted a poll to Twitter: Which player will finish his career with the highest WAR (wins above replacement)? But because Trout has such a huge lead over Harper (plus Correa and Machado, also included), the overwhelming majority of voters rightfully picked Trout. But Harper and Trout already have such impressive resumes at such young ages that it seems certain no team would pass them up for the risks associated with a player like Correa, who has yet to play a full Major League season. ![]() Cases could be made for Orioles third baseman Manny Machado and Astros shortstop Carlos Correa - especially since Correa is about two years younger than Harper and three years younger than Trout. No one bothers debating which two position players would go first and second, because the answer seems fairly obvious: Bryce Harper and Mike Trout, the game’s foremost young superstars. On Wednesday’s episode of MLB Now, host Brian Kenny posed an interesting topic of debate to the show’s panel, which included one extraordinarily handsome For The Win baseball writer: Which starting pitchers would be the first two picked in an expansion draft in which no player could be protected? It works because there are a bunch of pairs that might make sense. Once Santa has been more or less been painted in, I can now go back and tidy this up.Don't worry if you go over the edge and include some of the background because we will shortly be correcting this. ![]()
